Center filter silliness

Well, I have played the role of antagonist before, and I have done it again,
to good effect. Suddenly there is a rash of activity again!

Yes, ideally you need a center filter.

I have a Linhof 617 too and I use the filter when I use a tripod. Even use it
when shooting out of hand with faster film and plenty of daylight.

But I also shoot without the filter to get the effect of drawing your
attention to the center. I have done that and it looks, for certain pictures,
absolutely great.

But also, I have found out that the faster films have greater latitude
"forgiveness" and the fall-off is far less noticeable. Yes, if you shoot
Velvia, you need the filter. And a tripod!

As far as a filter for the 47mm S Angulon: if you do not crop, and use full
frame in your photos, better use a filter. But if you crop a lot, perhaps you
can survice withotu and if you can center-filterize digitally, you can try
that, but I am not sure how such a gimmick would affect the density and
sharpness of a digital image.

OK, for me: discussion closed, but you folks out there can keep on going about
this as long as you like. A forum like this ought to be also entertaining, not
just ...., well you know, serious and stuff.
