MORE ABOUT MY THOUGHTS ABOUT LIGHT AND COMPOSITION

Thanks to all who responded, including a silly dark-room joke.

I really meant something deeper.

To me photography is all about responding to a mood inside. And light is a
resonance with that inner mood, whether the mood exists now, or existed in the
past. And the way that mood is evoked, or re-evked is through seeing
soemthing, that resonated with what I see in my mind. That to me is called
composition. It's not about careful framing or planning, it's all about my
total union with the beauty of the spiritual telling of nature.

Yet, I must add, that when I first got involved with shooting with a 6x17
camera, my entire approach and vision and 'spiritualoity" changed and I
started to see the panoramic 1:3 ratio, 6x17, portions everyhwere. A new vista
had opened indeed.

Before I had been shooting mainly with a Plaubel Makina 67with 80mm lens.

With composition I also means "framing" . Where I stand to take the photo is
super important, one inch to the right or left, up or down would spoil the
photo.

Good light helps, but it is not everything. Light is overrated, although I
know, you can't shoot in total darkness.

How did you take that photo of the pitch darkroom? How many hours of exposure?
What f-stop, what film? Why didn't you use a panoramic camera?
(got to add my own humor here).

All the best,

Adri
