Hello All!
I wanted to let everyone who lives near New York City, or who will be
travelling here, about three Panoramic Exhibitions that are currently on
display at The Museum Of The City Of New York.
NEW YORK HORIZONTAL
Cirkut Camera Views by William Hassler
A series of views of New York City taken by Hassler early in this century
with a #8 Cirkut Camera. Many of the views are original prints and the
balance are new prints made from Hassler's negatives.
NEW YORK VERTICAL
Views from the book NEW YORK VERTICAL by Horst Hamann
Beautiful, LARGE, black and white prints from the book. All are vertical
Panoramas of New York City made with a Linhof Panoramic Camera.
LANDSCAPES OF HOPE
Views of changing New York City Neighborhoods by Larry Racioppo.
Photographs documenting community development projects. All are in color
and many are panoramas made with a Fuji Panoramic Camera.
Last Sunday, Horst and Larry, along with Curator of Prints and
Photographs, Bob Shamis, discussed the Exhibitions and the cameras and
techniques used to produce them, before a large crowd of obviously
knowledgeable people, including some IAPP members, at the Museum. After
the presentation, Horst and Larry used there cameras to make a group photo
of the attendees on the steps of the Museum.
The address for the museum:
Museum of the City of New York
1220 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10029
(212) 534-1672
If you get a chance, go see it!
