Most reports I have read thusfar is that lead has almost NO effect on 
these new scanners, other than perhaps triggering the highest 
scan-intensity. This went as far as claims that NO amount of lead 
could protect your film.
Or: how do you think a manual inspection should occur?
Have them put your plane on hold, and have your suitcase opened in
your presence?

If film means anything to you, take it with you as carry-on 
luggage....NEVER as check-in luggage.
