Cirkut 10

Hello again!
Thanks for the feedback on the Cirkut 10. I found it in a local
(Oakland,California) second hand shop last month. I have heard about
these cameras some time ago, but had never seen one, and asked to see it
as an afterthought. Recognized the name, and made an offer, got cold
feet, asked to sleep on it, went home and looked on the web. Flipped a
little bit, and figured it was gone, but after some phone calls and one
very upset junk dealer who also wanted it, I got it!
I'm determined to get this camera working again, it's an early one #155
front, #207 back, from 1904 I think. Missmatched, but seems to fit
together well. Part of my net research has been looking at the photo
archives, I especially like the black and white landscapes. I plan on
doing B&W, processing at home, and contact printing, cyanotype, platinum
(gonna be pricey!). I've never tried some of the other processes, but with
such a big negative, I'm sure I will.
Met with the father of a good friend of mine on Friday. He happens to run
a machine shop, and is an old camera nut. Showed him the Cirkut and how it
works, ran down the math on the ring gear (thanks go to Ron Klein). He's
confering with his local contacts that specialize in cutting gears. He
agrees that cutting a stack of gears makes sense, and will find out how
many can be cut at once. I'm looking into gear materials, brass,
bronze, etc. Are the original gears chrome plated or nickel plated brass?
