This could also be done easily with a Panoscan camera, a digital scanning 
panoramic camera.  While the camera is scanning, the camera operator simply 
presses the space bar, thereby halting the scan/pixel collection.  When the 
operator releases the space bar, the scan/pixel collection resumes.  No 
vertical white band like you get when light continues to bombard the film!  
This is really a terrific feature of digital scanning!  You can go to lunch, 
recompose the photograph, make another fashion statement, wait until hell 
freezes over, or even split your personal image to go with your personality,
