It would be convenient to use a medium format camera with a very wide lens
and again crop, giving you the same image size, but with the benefit of a
large amount of virtual rising or falling front. Unfortunately I don't
think you can get anything rectilinear and quite as wide. I'm thinking of
using the Mamiya7 with a 43mm in this way
I've done some work using a wide-angle lens on 35mm, and using slow film
and a tripod the results were surprisingly good.
I'd recommend the 15mm Voightlander f4.5 rather than the Nikkor - it will
fit any Leica screw body - or M with an adapter. It is a superb lens with
virtually no distortion and excellent overall sharpness.
