Using Color Negs in Adobe PhotoShop

Folks,

I sat down one night, looked a my old HP11C scanner, a old 5x7 Aristo cold
light head, and a Widelux Color Negative and wondered. 

I was able to scan the negative into PhotoShop ver 5.5 with minor issues.
Had to built a mask and raise up the cold light head to get avoid scanning
the neon lights grid.

The issue  I have now is how to get rid of the color mask (orange color) on
the negative.
I know some where I read how to do this.

Does anyone have a clue or a URL they can point me too?
