Hey Joe,
Over 20 years ago when I wanted to do the same thing as you for a swing
lens camera I then owned, I simply just took a small flat metal bar and
drilled and threaded a 1/4 x 20 inch thread hole on one end and then another
for where I wanted to have the camera placed back from the tripod head. You
screw the bar into the tripod on the end hole, and mount your camera onto
the bar with the offset further back down the bar hole / and 1/4 x 20 in.
thread screw. Are you following me so far? So...now your camera is mounted
onto a steel bar that allows it to sit offset from the center of the tripod
head. The lens will be able to rotate right over the tripod head in this
fashion. The whole thing cost me about three dollars, and worked like a
million. KISS
My best,
George S. Pearl, QPP
