Thanks Joe, a great site.  I had no idea that someone was actually manufacturing turntables and camera booms just for that purpose. I'm still confused as to software needs however. For example, they offer a Pixi VR object starter kit that includes a small turntable and Spin Photoobject software, but the sample image on the same page says "created with VR Worx software and "plays" via Quicktime !  I called them and waiting on tech guru to call back.

I am not sure one must assume that a Mac is required but I am sure one will work.  You might have a look at the Kaidan website before you take too many steps.  I have not attempted this but I do know they seem to have the subject covered, though I suspect it is a very costly solution.   http://www.kaidan.com/sales.html

Subject: Fw: Newbie here- Object movies ?

I would like to create 360 surround pictures of real objects (machine tools in this case) for the web where one uses mouse or arrow keys and one can then view front, sides, back and everything in between. Sort of the opposite of a typical panorama...is this called an "object movie" ?  I assume Quicktime VR Authoring Studio is the preferred software for this...is it the ONLY software for this ? If so, I assume I need to have a Mac ?  And therefore, what would be minumum hardware requirements for said Mac ?
Thanks,
