There is a really easy way to create interactive 360 objects using animated gifs or streams of high quality jpegs, which are a lot easier to put together than object movies, and can work on any computer. Create your animated gif of the object spinning, and use 360 Product Viz, which is a java applet which allows you to interact with the animated gif using either a toolbar or click and drag motion. It's plug-in free, too. Check it out at http://www.360dof.com/

You'll find info on it under 360 Product Viz on the menu bar.

Subject: Fw: Newbie here- Object movies ?

I would like to create 360 surround pictures of real objects (machine tools in this case) for the web where one uses mouse or arrow keys and one can then view front, sides, back and everything in between. Sort of the opposite of a typical panorama...is this called an "object movie" ?  I assume Quicktime VR Authoring Studio is the preferred software for this...is it the ONLY software for this ? If so, I assume I need to have a Mac ?  And therefore, what would be minumum hardware requirements for said Mac ?
Thanks,
