Re: Horizont and Horizon 202 Cameras
I have a Horizont and 2 Horizon 202's.
The Horizont takes very sharp pictures if you are lucky. By that I mean that
about 50% of the images have a crescent shaped band in the same spot about 1/8
of the way in on the left side. I have tried to figure out what is happening
and my best guess is that the film may be buckling which causes the crescent
shape. It seems to rotate smoothly. I have found that a pistol grip with a
cable release helps as firm deliberate pressure is required. The Horizont is
much heavier construction than the plastic Horizon. One of my 2 Horizons works
perfectly and takes sharp pictures. The other gave out after 4 rolls. I have
spent about 10 hours working on it on and off but am about finished with the
fix. I had to remove the body and open up the internal barrel to reattach a
spring which closes the variable slit because it was just flopping open and
closed. I basically have to guestimate the aperture settings and put the body
back on. Then pray. All in all, I guess you can say it is pretty much a crap
shoot.
