straightening noblex pictures

I'm trying to use panorama tools to straighten some of my Noblex
pictures.
By using the panorama tools->adust->extract it is possible to
project the cylindrical image onto a plane. I've read the
online help and have experimented with different settings.
What I like to achieve is to get the maximum size rectangular
image that can be created from a full-size panorama.
So if I have an original that is 3000x9000 pixels
would I want the final image to be 3000 pixels high so that there
is no loss of information at the center, or have the center compressed
and the edges 3000 pixels high so that there is no need for the filter
to extrapolate information?
Since the angle of view is fixed at 127 degrees by the camera the
only parameters to adjust are the height and width of the image
while leaving the height and width of the panorama set to 0 and the
HOV set to 127 also.
There must be some formula for this which depends upon the angle of
view and thus if I wanted to use a cropped original I could apply it
as well.
Any panoram tools experts out there?
Thanks..
