The easy answer is to Yahoo! for personal email. It
has an automatic spam filter that works great! What
ever Yahoo thinks is spam is sent to a bulk mail
folder. I almost NEVER get spammed with it. The
spammers must know that it will block them because
very few even try. I have a Hot Mail account that gets
spammed at least 10 a day, my Yahoo bulk mail folder
gets maybe 1. I believe that the spam in the bulk mail
folder on Yahoo automatically gets deleted after 30
days. 

BTW: ZDnet recomends 4 spam filters which can be found
