Bob,
I dont think you are crazy. I have used a digital camera to copy 6x6
transparencies on a light table with reasonable results. My camera will
focus to inches so close-up filters are not neccesary. It's difficult to
say how the edge to edge sharpness or other factors may affect the
image. I have a Sony Mavica which ony has 640x480 resolution.
