the reasons are simple:

ipix is holding several patents for retriving full
sphere panos from fishey-lense-images. this although
it is obvious, the process of retriving has had in-
vented long bevore they claimed their patents.

for me this is a typical case of lack of knowledge
of the people at the patent-office.

second: based on these patents, ipix has attacked
helmut dersch, author of panorama-tools,
(www.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch) for using these patents
without permission (...and accused him, having used
their pictures on his website).
