Re Circular polarisers



Brian Mason asked what was the advantage of the circular polarisers
mentioned in the Reel 3-D catalogue. I thought that these may just be plane
polarisers cut circular rather than actual circularily polarising filters .
After all camera plane polarisers are circular in shape. However cheking my
copy of the Reel 3-D catalogue 95-96 I can find no reference to either type
. The filters for twin projectors are described as 3" square and are the
normal 45 degree plane polarised. Those for the TDC 3-D and View Master
Stereomatic 500 are not described but are presumably plane polarised at 45
degrees and probably square in shape . The same goes for their glasses
although some are aproaching circular in shape there is nothing to suggest
they are not the conventional plane polarisation .    P.J.Homer
