THOMSON, INFINITY IN UNUSUAL 3D DEAL

Thomson Multimedia reached an agreement with Infinity Multimedia to support
the development of a 3D
display technology that does not require glasses or headsets. The technology
uses time multiplexing of images to
create 3D images, allowing multiple viewers the ability to "look around" the
sides and behind objects displayed on
a video game monitor. 

When prototypes achieve acceptable production status, Thomson will establish
a marketing strategic alliance with
Infinity to commercialize 3D arcade and consumer electronics products.
Thomson plans to use the alliance "to
explore the feasibility of unassisted 3-D products designed for specific
usage in the home", according to Bruce
Allan, vp corporate business development for Thomson.
