John Bell writes about "Across the Sea of Time":
>The movie ends up implying that New York's best period is behind it, when
the stereoscopic photos were taken. In the film Ellis Island is a ruin. The
Coney Island roller coaster is a ruin (the coaster we "ride" must be a
similar one elsewhere).
Actually, since I happen to be a coaster enthusiast, I'll take an educated
guess that the coaster you "rode" was the famous Coney Island Cyclone. It
is still operating. The ruined coaster is the Coney Island Thunderbolt. It
has not operated in about ten years, and is most famous for having a house
built underneath it. The house was featured in the movie "Annie Hall".
If you get to Coney and have the stomach for it, a ride on the Cyclone is
highly recommended!
