Hi George

I see that you are thinking aboutusing some wide-angle lenses for stereo.
I've tried shooting with 17mm lenses on my Pentax twin-rig, so here are
some comments:

* I think that the prime reason for wanting to use a wide angle lense is
for artisitic effect - which can add impact to your photos if used in the
correct way (just like longer lenses could too).

* You have to be accepting of the viewing distortions introduced, because
you wont be able to look at the results with a viewer with the same focal
length as the camera lense. If your are keen on the look of "ortho", then
maybe shorter and longer lenses aren't for you.

* Over the years I would say as little as 5% of my photography has been
done with lenses that are either shorter or longer than the normal (ie: 95%
of my stuff is close to ortho - shot with a conventional 50's stereo
camera). I think that just means I regard longer/shorter lenses as tools
for special applications.

Hope that addresses some of the issues you raised. It's all a bit
subjective really - what works for you?

Regards - Steve Spicer
