Hi John Roberts,

Thanks for taking the time to describe your process for rebuilding the
viewer.

This particular viewer doesn't look like it ever had a "hood". At least
there are no holes where one would have been attached that I could see.
Unlike the curved hoods that appear on two later viewers that I have
here, this one seems to have only had the face portion that holds the
lenses; the edges having a layered, scalloped wooden trim serving as
"finish" moulding going all around. It is also rectangular in shape.

There is also a substantial brass female mount on the bottom of the
viewer into which I suspect a handle or base screwed in.

Until I am able to find a drawing or photo of an identical viewer I'm
reluctant to add anything to it. I guess it will remain an
enigma for now.
