I've tethered my Kodak lens cover to the camera using a "cap keeper",
available in any camera store.  It is a piece of string with a self-adhesive
button on it that you stick to the lens cap.  It uses double sided foam tape,
and doesn't damage the finish, even if you decide to remove it later.
The other end attaches to the camera strap loop.  When I remove the cap from the 
lenses, I just let it dangle down (just like I do with my regular 35mm camera).
