Re: Realist lens cap?

Wow, it's very early... I would guess SN around 10,000? Does it have David
White or Illex Paragon lenses? I have only seen one camera with such low
SN that did not have the right exposure notch. The double-exposure and DOF
scale are much later features... I have seen cameras with SN in the 50,000
and 60,000 without them. Even though, owners of earlier cameras installed
these features to their cameras later.

Let me see if I get this straight: You have the black lens cap with the
Realist logo but it is not attached to the camera? Most probably it has
come off. Two metal clips hold it in place via two small rectangular
openings in the camera body. You must have lost the clips and possibly the
backelite of the cover is broken at the place where the clips attach so you
could not just buy a set of new clips and attach it. In terms of results
and convenience, I don't think you miss anything without the cap. If you
ever want to press the camera against glass to eliminate reflections, the
cap is in the way.
