Clarification on mount thickness etc.

Some more points of clarification on RBT's
What I mean about quick checking stereo pairs is that if RBT is not your
format of choice, you can pop them in an RBT in a few seconds, snap it
shut,.....check your image.....open the mask to remount if necessary, again
and again....and then if you are happy....you can remount to your other
format....one or two boxes of RBTs hanging around do that trick. Thats is
what I meant.
Another point on Dr. T and Greg Erkers comments on RBT mounts being " too
thick". Yes RBT's are thicker than cardboard mounts....or bare metal masks,
but RBTs are thinner than glassed metal masked mounts.......100 glassed metal
ooccupy the space that approx 110 RBt's do.
No doubt the metal EMDEs and Albions are extremely thin for storage, but one
must be very careful with all those sharp edges and surfaces that appear on
the side of the mask that houses the emulsion....I myself would not be
comfortable passing around metal masks (and I still have a lot of images in
metal masks, but they are glassed) to others for viewing.
But everyone has their favorite system...so we choose what suits us....our
budget....etc.
As far as the comments about reflections that occur from the window bevel,
perhaps you have not tried the mount with the black mask facing you.
Several thers on Photo 3-D here in recent postings have commented on the
crisp clean window that the RBT offers....especially if you use the black
mask side facing you.
I often use the the black side of the RBT mount facing to the viewing
audience.... like the white side, the black side gives an extremely clean
edge....especially for projection, which the RBTs are great for. Jon
