projector bulbs redux

We had a short discussion on replacement projector bulbs awhile
ago.

I just got put into "research mode" here to find replacements for bulbs in
our overhead proj units (these are higher performance units for use with
color LCD computer projector panels. The projectors are designed to
put a LOT of light thru the imaging stage without heating up the
object on the glass unduly since LCD panels are sensitive to that
sort of thing).

The bulb I was looking for, while not rare did seem to be elusive. Stock
was hard to come by, and we didn't need a lot.

I went back to the archives and did a keyword search on projector;bulb
and came up with several places to call.

The one I ended up with is the Bulbman in Reno Nevada. They were extremely
pleasant on the phone, and offer a 30% discount to schools, etc. Here's
the details.

$5 shipping for orders under $150, otherwise no minimimum. Credit cards
ok. The number is 800-548-6216 here in the states, otherwise
702-788-5661 or fax at 702-329-6599. Been in business for 20 yrs. The
person I talked to is "Judy".

Of interest here is the following:

CLG/CLS (for TDC Project or View) $9.95
CLX (which *might* work also - anyone know the difference?) $11.95

CZX (for Viewmaster projector) $18.50

These are single lot prices without discounts (if you don't qualify).
Price breaks generally occur at the 15 unit range, but varies.

They carry general purpose, projection, medical, optical, dental,
examination, operating room, fiber optic, microscope, X-ray, etc etc
etc. Looks like a big outfit.

Incidentally, on my hard to find projector unit bulb - I asked how
many they had in stock, and she said - "around 19,000" :-)

For whatever it's worth...
