Re: Collector Newsgroup?

In his 12/5/95 posting, AndyBurr@xxxxxxx asked about "newsgroups
set up primarily for collectors rather than makers of
stereographic images" and also mentioned "antique/vintage stereo
images".

Andy, I can't begin to address your questions pertaining to
establishing and maintaining a newsgroup but I can give you (and
perhaps some others) some info which you may find helpful.
I could find no Andy Burr listed in the 1995 Membership Directory
of the National Stereoscopic Association(NSA) which led me to
believe that you may not be aware of that organization. NSA
states that it is "The Only National Organization Devoted
Exclusively To Stereo Photography, Stereoviews, and 3-D Imaging
Techniques".

NSA bimonthly publishes the magazine STEREO WORLD. If you have
been following Photo-3D very long, I'm sure you have seen
references to STEREO WORLD as many Photo-3D subscribers are also
members of NSA. I believe you would thoroughly enjoy the stories
including the excellent reproduction of stereoview cards which I
find very easy to "freeview". I think it is safe to say that you
will see some cards that you have never seen before and may never
see elsewhere. In addition to cards, the latest issue contains
a story on "The Stereo World Wild Web" with the URL for NSA and
Stereo World and also references Photo-3D's address. Another
article pertains to the making of the 3-D IMAX movie "Wings of
Courage" with on location stereoviews. Something for everyone!!

BTW, the NSA directory shows two members in Winter Park and ten
members in Orlando hence there are others with interest in 3-D
in your immediate vicinity.

If you (and others) would like a NSA trifold flyer which gives
membership/subscription info, send E-mail directly to me (so we
don't clutter Photo-3D). Include your complete snail-mail
address so I'll know where to send the form.

Regards.....Jim Motley
