When I used to play around with this, I always kept my eyes open for
dollying or trucking rather than panning.

It seemed to me that if the camera was still but the camera platform was
moving, I was more likely to get to distinct views akin to what the
left/right eyeballs see, rather than two different views from a single
camera position, which is what results from a camera pan.

Or, should this matter at all? Curious to hear if your experience is
different...
