Re: Kodak and hyperfocus (update)

Now that I've survived a night full of nightmares about hyperfocus, I did a
quick check on how much the Kodak lens markings would have to change to be
more accurate for infinity focus when set for the hyperfocus distance.
Without doing the precise calculations (later) it appears that a correction
of the following will be reasonably close, if not erring on the conservative
side: remark the lens (temporary) :
LENS REMARKING
3.5 8
5.6 11
8 16
And the hyperfocus distances to set at the arrow for the corrected values
are:
@f/8= 19.6 ft
@f/11= 14.4 ft
@f/16= 10 ft
These remarked apertures on the DOF scale are not exact, I will calculate and
lay out an exact remarking scale sometime, but this procedure at least gets
the lens focused closer to infinity when setting hyperfocus when compared to
the existing markings. If this doesn't solve the original problem ,
then......nevermind :-)
As usual, a "damn the decimal point error" could have been made early in my
analysis, making everything hogwash. But everything appears to make sense,
can anyone check my figures?
