3d@xxxx results
And the winners are...
The 3d@xxxx data processing center has completed its tally of ballots. A
total of 16 ballots were returned. Most said it was ok to post who they
voted for. Some didn't. In the interest of peace on earth, and continued
good relationships, I've decided not to connect the votes to the people
who cast them. Isn't it great not being accountable to anyone other than
myself?!! However, in the interests of fairness, I only voted in the
Amateur category, since one of the Newbie people is a long time friend.
Also, I did not cast any votes for my own material, and I'm removing
myself from eligibility for any prize drawings.
Prize drawing: This will take place next weekend. Just thought a bit of
suspense would be nice.
The following items were pledged at the beginning of the project: Dan
Shelley: Young Indiana Jones anaglyph (set of 10) trading cards and viewer
Brad Richmond: Stereoptics: Set of 18 Stereoscopic computer drawings with
viewer Martin Schub: 3D Magic disposable camera Elliott Swanson: Radio
Shack stereoscopic and stereophonic hand-held lcd WWI aerial battle game,
in original, but slightly worn box. Elliott Swanson: 200 heat seal paper
Realist format mounts. George Themelis: A brand new viewer power supply!
If you were a prize donor and this isn't shown above, please let me know
asap.
All prize transactions are strictly between the giver and the receiver.
Please don't talk to me if you don't get whatever it is, unless I was the
one who was supposed to send it. Also, don't gripe about unreceived prizes
on the listserv. However, public thank yous are more than welcome! Since
we have 6 prizes, three will go to Newbie and three to Amateur categories.
This means the Newbies have a better chance of getting something, which is
as it ought to be. Prizes will be awarded based upon the photos earning
the highest number of points, irregardless of categories, one prize per
person. So if your photos as a group did well in the voting, you still
only get one prize.
May we have the envelope...
Newbie: The highest number of points received for any image, Amateur OR
Newbie, was 33 points for the Hyperstereo slide "View From Lawyer's
Office, San Francisco" by Martha Ann McCann, with 9 people voting. The
second highest was 18 points for Lauren Michaels' untitled Scenic
stereoscope card showing a path and Autumn colors, with 4 people voting.
The third highest was 12 points for Bill Bayne's Scenic untitled slide of
a sandstone tower, with 6 people voting. (Remember a person had the option
of assigning anywhere from 1 to 10 points to an image, with a total of 10
points available for Newbie and 10 points for Amateur.)
Amateur: Much tougher competition here. Highest number of points was 17
for Tim Klein's Still Life Lenticular "Bicycle Shop", with 7 people
voting. Elliott Swanson also received 17 votes for the slide "Rebecca"
with 9 people voting (ineligible for prize drawing). Number two slot was
secured by Tim Klein's View Magic print in the Still Life category "Taken
Over By Nature" with 9 people voting (ineligible for another prize).
There was a two way tie for the third place image, with both receiving 8
points: William Chang's Macrostereo View Magic print "Jewel" with 7 people
voting and Elliott Swanson's Spfx slide "Catching Fire" with 6 people
voting (ineligible for prize). The third and final prize in the drawing
goes to George Themelis for the Still Life slide "Wild Wheels" with 7
votes and 5 people voting.
Cumulatively, Martha Ann McCann (51 votes for all images) and Tim Klein
(38 votes for all images) nailed down the high overall scores in Newbie
and Amateur categories.
The following is the raw data from the voting, with the following
information shown: (Sorted by high points. An entry must have received at
least one point to be shown. There were a lot of great photos that didn't
receive points because each person only had 10 points per category--
Amateur or Newbie)-- to assign.)
Shown: # of points, name, Newbie/Amateur status, total people voting for
this image, category, assigned inventory number for image, title of image.
Note: Amateur and Newbie are intermixed on this list.
