expo1 mass/energy conversion

IMHO,

Just so ya know, the reason expo1 was so heavily packed is that I wanted
to create as good a chance as possible for survival. Yep, it was probably
overkill. But I felt it was a responsibility to try and protect the
entries. If expo2 is cut and run UPS in a shoebox, no problem as far as
I'm concerned. I'll just fire up my Repronar and make copies, so no
original material will be at risk. The competitive aspect was suggested by
a number of the entrants, I suspect more to get feedback than any other
reason. So I did it. As it turns out, I think I like the idea of a judged
expo, because it's a way to see how one stacks up outside of the inbred
club environment. If I have to look at another stereo slide of a bush in
the foreground, a something-or-other 15 feet behind it, scenery in the
background, and the Golden Mean in evidence I'm gonna throw up! Screw the
compositional conventions of stereoscopy. Unless you're taking forensic
slides or doing commercial work with strictures, the only rules are that
your exposure values need to be good (or at least interesting) and the
average human being needs to be able to fuse the viewed or projected
images without a experiencing a brain seizure. I loved the expo because
there was everything under the sun in it, and even most of the scenics had
artistry in 'em. The photo-3d listserv crosses a lot of territory, which
is a strong reason to keep a listserv powered expo away from PSA, NSA, ISU
or CIA structuring. (And I say this as a member of ISU and NSA.) the only
thing you have to join is the expo, not the organization. For expo1 you
didn't even have to be on the listserv!

So whoever picks up the reins for expo2, my only advice is do whatever
the heck you want, and if people opt to play, they will, and if not, then
it's not your problem, it's theirs. Let 'em eat cake.

So if it's a go, sign me up! I'll even donate prizes if requested.

Elliott
