Re: what to do in San Francisco
Back when I lived in SF (I was born there), Turk Street had a reputation
for being one of the most rough and tumble areas of the city where almost
anything is bought and sold. There are probably many sections that match it
these days.
The point of the whole post is don't neglect the neighborhoods if you
want to explore the city. If I was going back to revisit the place, I'd
get a good idea of where all the streetcars still ran (not just BART) and
get on and off as the spirit moved me.
You can do the Palace of Fine Arts, or the Steinhart Aquarium, or the
Japanese Tea Garden (great tea garden!) or whatever, but leave a little
time for discovering something not written up in the guide books.
