Happy New Year 2 all!
Just hanging on the sidelines and noticed that yet another person has
benefitied from a Themelsized viewer....in this case they benefit from the
beautiful Revere viewer. I have several Revere and Wollensak viewers....they
are aesthetically my favorites....and opticallyI love them both.....ask Dr. T
about the specifics of those two optically if you want comparisions.
One point I would like to make for especially Revere viewer owners. It is a
beauty to look at as we all know....with the brown bakelite....and that great
logo on the button....but speaking of that on-off button.....I have seen a
lot of Reveres in my time in this hobby....and either due to battery
acid....or just wear....the spring metal that holds the on-off button up can
become brittle and snap. I am sure Dr.T has a remedy for this..... but one I
have found and highly recommend is his PS series power supplies....especially
if you have one of these viewers and you keep it on a stand at home. By
bypassing the on-off switch...wich Dr.T makes clear provision for
understanding in the directions......you can control the on-off...and
brightness without ever touching that on-off button....thus preserving that
somewhat fragile spring.
Also....when a viewer is put on a stand....and one is using it that way a
lot....or showing images to others.....it is easy to overlook the fact that
you can be putting stress on the area of the viewer that houses the female
threaded adaptor, that screws in to a tripod or stand. Watch out....that can
become a stress point as well, and the Bakelite can become brittle by
constantly leaning on the viewer....or pressing the button on top when you
are not actually "holding the viewer".....so all the more reason why Dr.T's
PS supplies help, they remove that problem.....once you set you focus or
interocular.....you actually don't have to touch the viewer........thus less
wear and tear. Hope this helps to preserve a few 3-D viewers out there
Reveres...or any other models. Happy New Year to all....
