Mr. Realist goes for a plane ride



    People have talked about taking film through airport X-rays, but the
original question also included whether airport security would be bothered
by seeing a Realist in your suitcase.  I don't travel all that much, so my
experience is somewhat limited, but I've never had a problem.  On a couple
of occasions, I've been asked to open the suitcase containing the Realist,
but I've never been asked to demonstrate that it's functional, or anything like
that.  These cases were both in U.S. airports.  I've also taken the Realist
to and from the U.S. to Italy, France, and England with no trouble.
    Incidentally, I generally pack an old, clunky G.E. lightmeter (made in the
1950's--has an enameled metal case) with my Realist, and I've never been given
any trouble about that, either.  But then, they might mistake the meter for
an electric shaver...8-)
