John Dukes ask:
>>Is there really a significant temperature difference during >>projection?
Enough to accelerate slide demise? I understand >>the theory, but is there
actually a valid concern?
>>Anyone ready with a thermocouple?
John,
I am probably going to crumble on this one, with the likes of Elliot, John B,
Dr.T or Joel A....who are probably firing up their digital thermocoupler
analyzers right now....so anyone who can add to or correct me on this please
do so since it has been a long time since I owned an older style projector, a
Compco Triad, which I liked a lot....but I was always hesitant to leave
anything in for more than 10 seconds when using 500 to 1000 watt bottles....I
would be more concerned about the emulsion getting fried directly by the heat
first, than the heat that gets to the emulsion via the mount itself,
glass/non glass, metal, paper or plastic.

Now, I use the Brackett Dissolver for projection....so there really no
concern for black vs. white since that machine has such good design....the
temperature at the emulsion never exceeds....I am approximating around 90
degrees. The RBT projector runs fairly cool as well.....and if Joel is out
there maybe he can tell us about the Fed Boy's temerature at the emulsion.
Thats it on this end....Jon Golden RBT USA
