Film comments

I bought a box of someone's old Realist slides yesterday. There are some
good ones, though they are all faded. Judging by the clothes and cars, the
pictures were taken in the '50s. Some are mounted in massive Realist
Permamounts. A good number of them are black&white.

I have other (non-stereo) slides going back to the early '40s. One striking
thing is how good the Kodachrome slides still look. The majority of the E-6
slides have faded and/or shifted their colors. I realize that the film and
the processing has probably been improved, but I'm still nervous about how
my Sensia will look in 20 years. So far I shooting mostly with Kodachrome
since it's only a couple dollars more per roll. When I shoot Sensia I send
it to Fuji for processing. They have an excellent lab.

I know projection is bad for Kodachrome. I just hope George's halogen bulb
in my viewer isn't a problem ;->

I shot a roll of Agfa Scala 200 a few weeks back. It looks very nice,
though I think I like slides to be color and prints to be black&white.
