Re Taking lots of photos
George and I are actually good friends. No really! As I posted to him off
the listserv, it's my unhumble opinion that roughly 99% of the photographs
people take are practice. Stereo or otherwise-- quality photography is
quality photography. And that is after you've been at it for quite some
time. That even applies to Ansel Adams. Most photos should be immediately
destroyed, or stuck in an album as personal mementos that comprise a
record of one's family history, or handed over to the person or
organization who paid you to take them while you use the other hand to
grab the money. The remaining 1% are suitable for showing other people
without causing them to suddenly remember a forgotten dentist appointment,
hopefully revealing something about the human condition, or showing people
a new way to look at the world, or capturing a moment of history. If you
accumulate enough good photos, you may even get a gallery show or book out
of it, or stockpile enough points to go into the Blabbity-Blah-Whatever
Hall of Fame. If you're lucky and/or persistent, you might take one or
two _great_ photos in a lifetime. IMUO. --Elliott
