3d-advertising on web

Just saw this press release and thought some might be interested in this
mainstream use of 3-d:

* TEMPE, ARIZONA, U.S.A., 1996 JAN 18 (NB) -- Insight Enterprises
* Inc. (NASDAQ: NSIT) is taking advantage of the multimedia
* capabilities of the Internet to let prospective customers sample
* the PCs, peripherals, and software it sells.
*
* Insight offers online images that let the shopper check the
* system's expansion capabilities or view all sides of a piece of
* equipment, such as a monitor. The company uses QuickTime Virtual
* Reality to let the viewer actually rotate the image of the product.
* The Web site address is http://www.insight.com .
*
* A unique feature of the online store is the use of three-dimensional
* (3-D) glasses. The online images include photographs and special
* offers that are visible only through the glasses. You get the glasses
* by clicking a button and entering your shipping address. Insight
* started offering the glasses in late November and said it currently
* ships about 900 pairs each day.
*
* John-Scott Dixon, Insight electronic media manager, hopes the glasses
* will foster repeat visits to the company's Web sites to view new
* offerings. Dixon said Insight has shipped 20,000 pair of glasses to
* date.
*
* .... <other stuff deleted - they've also had "talking ads" using RealAudio>
*
* (Jim Mallory/19960118/Press contact: Valerie Paxton, Insight
* Enterprises, 602-350-1611; Public contact: Insight Enterprises,
* 602-902-1000) or 800-927-7848)
