>Yiing Ling RE: Prof. and popularity of stereo!
Herbert McKay ('50s writer and columist) later Stereo Guild out of
Eutis FL.
said, "Stereo revives with each generation as it is rediscovered!.
My break-down:
Starting soon after photography 1832..in 1840 scienttific curiosity.
1870's the Victorian TV into 1900's Lots of photographers documenting
the world for the parlor stereoscope. 1914 the popular small plate
camera stereo..new rage. Culnimating in Heidiscope roll film camera
(that evolved into Rolleiflex).
1940 the 35mm color stereo..but couldn't get to market until after war
'47.
1955 ended 'fad'. 1980's Nimslo and Nishka parallax barrier for the
masses.
1995 new video and computer CRTs stereo?????
Projection was always a pain because of audience eye problems. Also in
the movies with synced projectors..any splice on on reel had to be
matched with a take out on other to stay with matched images. It was
hoped to have one film using Polaroid scheme but color and resolution
were lacking for Hollywood standards. BobH
