Would it be possible to have two digest sizes: a once a day one, and a smaller but more frequent one? You could subscribe to the daily digest or the XX kbyte digest type.

I know it would screw up the digest numbering, unless you did 1199A, 1199B, 1199C, then #1200 the next day. 

I am not in digest mode so I don't care either way.
