Yes!  There is a definite link between cumulative UV exposure &
certain forms of blindness in later life.  Comes from studies of
patients after cataract surgery in both eyes in which the
replacement lens in one eye filtered UV & the other didn't.  The
non-UV-filtered eye was significantly worse.  Wear those
sunglasses!
