FLASH problems

Hi,
Thanks to everyone who reacted to my message.
I checked and my flash is a VIVITAR 2800. The max reach is 20 ft. in "blue
mode" with a F stop of 4. "Red mode" has a reach up to 40 ft. but requires a
F/2. and is beyond the camera's possibilities. As many suggested I went to
the local Photoshop got myself a "bonnet grand angle 35 mm", a plastic
diffuser. Looks cute, should work but reduces the reach in terms on distance
with roughly 30 %. (Max 13 ft. instead of 20 ft.) Santa, I'd like to have a
stronger flash some time.(Hope my parents get to see this ;-))
