Cine Vue

I came across a very interesting item yesterday which, although not 3D,
caught my attention because it was a viewer item available during the 1939
San Francisco International Exposition. It is called a Pathegram Cine Vue
and the colorful box contains a dark-red and black bakelite (?) viewer and
three small boxes each containing three b/w films. The one I have looked
at is 2D images of various architectural sites. Amazingly enough, the
entire thing is in Near Mint condition and it looks like the three small
film-boxes were never opened as the card tabs are like new. There are also
two paper-strip ads for other films available to the format, including
entertainment and childrens themes.

Can anyone tell me more about this item? Was it competing with
View-Master? Any idea of value (for my records, not for re-sale)?

                                                  :-) jamie.
