TDC 116 lamp wattage

Has anyone attempted to use 750w lamps in a TDC 116 projector?
If so, with what results?
The manual states:
"Only 500-watt lamps are recommended for home use. However, 750-watt lamps
can be used when required to obtain sufficient brilliance for large-screen
showings."
