Brad-

There must be a problem with your projector. I just put a RBT slide in my TDC116 
for 3 minutes, black side toward bulb, and it was barely warm. Maybe your fan is 
not doing the job. Mine is so loud I can hardly talk over it, but it keeps 
everything cool. After a projection session, the polarizer, which is closer to 
the bulb than the slide, is warm but not hot. Also, check the condenser 
assembly. The third element from the bulb is flat, probably heat-absorbing 
glass. Possibly there is some variation in design between projectors, because 
when I focus, the lens assembly moves, not the slide carrier.
