I'm glad to hear someone else say this. I take a lot of pictures with my
Realist that are much different from the 'flatties' I used to take. The
stereo effect can be wonderful, but it's not the reason I take pictures. As
Allan Carrano said, I'd rather please myself than someone else.

Good photography captures a moment and expresses a feeling. Every once and
awhile I take a picture that is special to me, although I'm often not sure
it will have any meaning for others since they don't have a personal
relationship with the subject, as I do.

I've only seen a couple competition slide shows and I'm already tired of
the pictures that seem to have 3D first on their priority list. John Vala
said about judging: "I'd say I always look at initial "Impact", then go to
composition, then look for stereo effect and position in the window, and
finally the warm fuzzy feeling of "is this a nice picture or what". This
sounds like a good approach to me.
