If the 17" monitor offers 1152x870 res (or 1280x1024 if it's
a PC), then it can it can only increase your options.  On the
other hand, if it only offers the same res as a smaller
monitor, the downside is that you need more convergence
or divergence to freeview an image of given pixel dimensions.
