I got a chance to present my new developing 3D system, which is an easy tool
for anyone to create 3D photgraphy on WIN95, to two of local 3D clubs last
week. The reason why I use "digital" is that digital camera is the input
device in my 3D system. The key feature of my stuff is "shot and enjoy 3D
photograpgy on WIN95 within three minutes". Let me introduce Digital 3D
Photography in brief first.

1. Digital 3D Photography includes

H/W input device : (for producing a pair of images with binocular parallax
effect)
                     Digital Camera(I use Kodak DC50)

output device: (for viewing stereo effect on monitor)
                     LCD Shutter Glasses

S/W 3D Image Processor:(for editing and creating stereo images)
VGA driver :(for generating 120Hz vertical refresh rate in
order to eliminate flickering)

2. Platform :WINDOWS 95 on Pentium 133MHz Machine

3. Priciple of Stero Display :Field Sequential Display

4. Process of creating 3D photography

- shot a pair of left and right images with digital camera
- load left & right images into PC
- put one of the image on the upper layer of the other(you can find the same
functions in Photoshop)
- interleave two images, in fact allocate left and right images at even and
odd scanning lines respectively

        scanning line 0 left image
        scanning line 1 right image
        scanning line 2 left image
        scanning line 3 right image
              : :
        scanning line 2n left image
        scanning line 2n+1 right image

- get the best stereo effect by adjusting the relative horizontal and
vertical position of interleaved images
(like the project, you need to adjust two lenses to get the best condition)

5. Features

- incredible efficiency: shot and enjoy 3D photography in tree minutes
- best learning tool: anyone without 3D experience can master it in few hours
- high color 3D stereo images
- it costs you almost nothing because every thing is digitalized
- conventional 3D photos are still available if they can be scanned by
scanner or can be converted to
  Photo-CD

I asked folks here to shot a pair of left/right images. They were so
surprised with their own first digital 3D photo when it came out on the
monitor 1 minutes later after I loaded images from Kodak digital
camera(loading left/righ images takes 2 minutes). IT'S JUST SO EASY!! IT IS
SO REAL!! IT'S ALSO COLORFUL!!(not like anaglyphs just give you a
monochrome). Within the last one and half century, technology of 3D
photographs was not improved. We are still using regular camera and viewer
for 3D phtography which were invented several generations ago. Inconvenience
of conventional proceess has limited lots of 3D applications. With the
advent of my DIGITAL 3D PHOTOGRAPHY, anyone can shot and enjoy 3D
photography in less than tree minutes. Moreover anyone without any
experience on 3D photography can master it in few hours if he/she got a
digital camera. It costs you almost nothing because every thing is
digitalized. It offers you great business opprotunity if you know how to
link DIGITAL 3D PHOTOGRAPHY with Internet and CD-ROM.
