Any experience with Polaroid's instant slide film?

Hello,

I was wondering if many of you have used Polaroid's instant slide film 
before, more specifically, their black & white film?  It may just be me, 
but the film seems to be awfully grainy.  I'm not sure if it's something 
that I'm doing wrong (although the developing process is much too easy to 
screw up), or if it's just the nature of the film.

How does "regular" b&w film compare?  Also, what's it turn-around rate 
(most have to be sent away for special processing, right?) and pricing of 
development?
