If I read you correctly, and please correct me if I don't, what
you are seeing is actually an exercise in "Caller ID" with the
default being "ID Blocked."

If you want the recipient to know who sent the message, you must
either dial "*09" BEFORE writing the e-mail, or you must remember
to include a "signature" with your mail.

The benefits are that you won't get all that e-mail from the
aluminum siding salesmen.  ("Aluminium" in the U.K.)

AND... you won't accidentally read something you thought was
from someone else...
