I was wondering when the topic of stereo nudes would be raised. I am
vmuch more interested in realistic rather than abstract art and was
very happy to see both male and female nudes included in the
international competition in Oakland, CA, this past winter. I was one
of the projection assistants and took the time--once my vertical
allignment was correct ;) --to check around the crowd during the
judging to see if anyone was *visibly* uncomfortable with these images.
There was more chuckling from the women when the male image was
projected than from the men when the female images were projected.
Other than this, I could not register any other signs (it was too dark
to see *very* clearly).

I assumed that the chuckling was partly out of the novelty of the image
and partly out of discomfort with it in a public setting. Perhaps not.
At any rate, most of the people seemed to be viewing the slide as they
would any other in the competition. How was it executed? Did the
image have impact? I spoke with a few people after the projection
since I wanted their take on the topic. Being 35 years old, I thought
that a group with an average age of 60 might have viewed the images
differently than I did. It was surprising to find out that many of
them liked the images. Only one person took exception to them but felt
they had a right to be in the competition.

I, for one, am interested in any image which moves me emotionally,
sensually, or sexually. I hope people continue to take slides of
people (clothed or not), buildings, animals, clouds...basically
anything they see as beautiful. I don't always have to agree with it,
but I would like the chance to decide for myself.

What do others think?
